Great April Weekend

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWow, what a weekend! I achieved my marathon swim on Saturday afternoon/evening finishing 5 kilometres [or 3 miles and one eight miles or 200 lengths] using a mixture of breastroke, backstroke and freestyle and was able to get out of the pool unassisted afterwards [a requisite for my swimming Gold survival badge when I was a schoolboy]. I was presented a medal & congratulated by staff and organizers and cheered on by other swimmers. Needless to say I was very tired when I got home & after showering I went to bed. On Sunday I was up early at 5am to get ready for my full on Kent day. I was speaking at Cliffe Community Church and had been forewarned a number of guests were going to come along. I was there at 9.50 am before they had even opened up having driven in pleasant sunshine the 100 miles. Nearly every seat was filled come the start which was encouraging and I spoke on the Alpha and Omega. Afterwards there was a lovely meal and lots of chatting to people. Cliffe is a friendly church and I was introduced to a Nepalese man who was interested in chess. Well that opened up some chess ministry as I always have a set in the car. I played 7 people in all at least 10 games and answered lots of questions over the board about the Bible and all kinds of spiritual things. It was really good and several parents came and asked for details of the two holidays I run in August called Sketchpad and Checkmate. I then visited friends, saw the end of the Arsenal/Man U game & savoured the Chelsea victory. I then drove to Wayfield and had tea with a dear friend & was joined by my youngest brother before driving home for midnight. All in all an adventurous and exciting, challenging weekend. My body seems to have recovered too, thanks for all your prayers. Kevin
