Pray for Kevin ~ August 2013

Please pray for a super Sketchpad holiday with 9-17 year olds at Chellington from August 5th to 10th. Kevin will travel over on the 4th with some kit too. Following Sketchpad there is a beach mission team reunion from many exciting years of mission in Overstrand, North Norfolk. Some team are now married and have children, so it will be fun to get together and catch up. As that concludes on Sunday afternoon, Checkmate young people and team arrive for the annual Checkmate residential for young people. Checkmate now established over 6 years is an exciting chess based holiday and develops chess play in context of a very good youth programme with lots of healthy competition.
Sketchpad will concentrate on developing artistic skills amongst team and young people attending the residential. It is hoped to explore drawing with pencils, graphite, conte, oil pastels, chalk pastels, painting with watercolours; mixed media; etc. Sketchpad is now in its second year and works well in a residential atmosphere. Both holidays are super value for money and represent excellent opportunities for young people to make friends, develop skills, participate in discussions, share late nights, have lots of fun and explore the beauty of the Carlton village and the Harold Odell country park.
Kevin uses his teaching skills along encouragement and tips of the trade in his approach with young people. Above is a 2 hour leopard demo by Kevin to a group of adults meeting as an art group. As well as producing Kevin got the group producing and learning by having a go, that way he could develop technique, affirm accordingly and highlight good practice. Kevin has taught for over 20 years in schools, clubs and prisons from ‘juniors to seniors’.
The holidays are some of the Face2Face projects Kevin has initiated over recent years. Face2Face Educational Trust is a Christian Trust that works in schools and churches, with children, young people and families. Kevin puts on various events in East Anglia as well as working further afield as appropriate in Kent, Lincs and beyond.
