Commissioned Art Work
4 hour two person pencil portrait = £60 plus materials [see example above]. It it helpful giving a series of photos to me to use as reference. This customer sent a series of jpeg shots by email.
If you would like to commission me to do a piece of artwork please let me know the type of work you want, i.e. pencil or coloured pencil portrait, landscape oil painting, sunset pastel, oil pastel tiger, acrylic sea scene, pen chess illustration, etc. & send me at least one quality jpeg photograph to work from as reference for people/animal portraiture or ask me to provide the photo in the case of the animal or take the photo for the portrait [that can be arranged]. Also please state the time frame, it is best to give as much time as possible as my diary can sometimes be busy [you would need to allow 4-8 weeks].

As a basic guide on prices & medium used, my current hourly rate is £12 an hour, plus the cost of materials used.*
These film pieces suitable for children’s rooms would be £100 to commission
Examples of art in different medium that can be commissioned & realistic time frames to give you an idea on costs involved:
2 hour pencil portrait of one person = £40 including materials. People portraits are popular art pieces. If done colour [see below] the time taken would be more consuming and the cost more, so you are looking at £70 depending on time put in to the work.
Coloured pencil cats are a popular gift for birthday/Christmas presents, this commission captured the cat as a kitten
The dog is done in watercolours with watercolour pencils and was commissioned for a gift to Australia
A two dog portrait would cost more as the time taken would be longer. This portrait highlights the importance of capturing the pets at their best as one dog had died and the owner wanted the memory captured, estimate here would be £70

4-12 hours colour pencil portrait [see below for celebrity portraits taking 4 & 12 hours]
Below are two examples of colour portraits, both used watercolour pencils & achieved very good likenesses of famous celebrities, can you guess who? These are examples of pieces of work. Look at the ART GALLERY to see other examples of art work some that may be for sale.
Art can capture a memory of a special person, this one was done in chocolate brown watercolour pencil the day after the news of Whitney’s death. I remember my Grandma asking for a picture of her dad from a small, old black & white photo, it was a challenge but she was delighted with the result! He was the last horse coach driver in operation in England.
One of my favourite actors …Shawshank Redemption, Brubaker, Bucket List, need I say more!
The rhino and child would be involving colour, composition, animal and person and would take a fair amount of time to complete [at least 10-12 hours]. It would be fair to conclude this would be £150.
5 hour chalk pastel sunset = £120 plus materials [example below] Sunsets are popular, attractive & often stunning pieces.
10-15 hours would be the realistic time one could spend on an acrylic sea painting. Sea paintings are quite inspirational, they capture movement in water, lots of colour varieties of blues & greens.
15-30 hours would be the realistic time spent on an impressive big oil big cat painting & would be one of my personal favourites. Commissions please!
For oils you would need to allow costs for frame & materials. I would recommend the deep edge frames. A large cat oil painting or acrylic would be £400-800 depending on the size of canvas and hours put taken.
*Materials for an oil or acrylic painting would depend on the size of the canvas & amount of paints used & would be more costly than other art medium.
For a sizeable oil painting 36 x 24 inches with 30 hours plus work involved would be £400-600.
The beauty with deep edge framed canvasses is that they can hang with additional framing which can be expensive.
Please note these are guides, some art work will take longer than this in operation depending on the degree of difficulty involved.
